PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This week’s death of “Soul Train” host Don Cornelius was marked in Philadelphia City Council Thursday with a surprising admission from one of the lawmakers.
The admission came from Councilman Jim Kenney, speaking on the floor of City Council chambers in memory of Soul Train host Don Cornelius.
“It was the TV show that I actually learned to dance — for real — on,” councilman Jim Kenney said.
“Councilman, I was wondering where you got those wonderful moves from,” Council President Darrell Clarke said.
“That was it,” Kenney replied.
That prompted Majority Whip Blondell Reynolds Brown to adjourn the session with a request.
“I will ask my council member Jim Kenney to lead us down the Soul Train line.”
But no one had the music handy so Reynolds said they’ll try it next week.
