Positively Philadelphia: Students' Entrepreneurial Skills On Display At School Bazaar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Usually we think of bazaars happening before the holidays, but the Independence Charter School at 16th and Lombard held one after. Parent Lauren Ayala said the idea began with people talking about clearing out their stuff.
"The other thing that was coming out at the same time was our technology campaign. So we figured this is a good way to one, raise money for the school, two, help everyone kind of clear out some of the things they didn't want anymore, and three, bring the community into the school.
A number of students were also selling things including student Racardo Burton.
"My business name is Delicious and Nutritious. I am part of the executive incubator at the Enterprise Center. These cookies are the gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. Over there are the sugar-free oatmeal raisin cookies."
Let me tell you, his cookies were great. Another student entrepreneur, Tommia Byrd:
"I sew and I'm in the process of making clothes, but right now I sell them."
Sierra Horsey-Morris also sews.
"And I made these clips right here."
They're so pretty.
"Thank you."
