Delaware County Family Needs Help Finding Lost Dog After House Destroyed By Fire

DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – A beloved family pet is missing after a fire broke out in their Delaware County home.

The fire began inside a twin home on Lawnton Terrace in Darby Township around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Though firefighters were eventually able to get the flames under control and keep them from spreading to the other half of the house, the family living inside the portion of the house where the fire started is now homeless (see previous story).

And while there were no human injuries, police say three of the family's dogs were killed in the blaze. Another, a German shepherd, was rescued by a neighbor, but a fifth dog is missing.

"Cody," a male one-year-old longhaired Chihuahua, was last seen in the area of Lawnton Terrace after the house fire. His family has released a photo and put up flyers around the neighborhood in the hopes that someone has seen the small black, white and brown dog.

If you have any information on Cody, please call 610-496-3897.
