PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Flyers will try to bounce back tonight from Sunday’s 6-5 shootout loss to Boston (see game story) as they visit the Florida Panthers.
This will be the final game before the All-Star break for the Flyers, who sit in second place in the Atlantic Division, with 61 points. They are three points behind the frontrunning New York Rangers.
Florida is in first place in the Southeast Division, with 54 points. That’s good for a one-point lead over the Washington Capitals.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the Flyers and the Panthers. The Flyers won the first, 3-2, in Florida on November 13th (see game story).
But the Flyers are banged up for this one. Forward Danny Briere is out indefinitely with a concussion, and forward Jaromir Jagr is considered day-to-day with a strained groin.
KYW’s Matt Leon spoke with CSN Philly’s Sarah Baicker about the Flyers-Panthers matchup.
