Police Identify Woman Killed In Cherry Hill Crash

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) - Police have identified the driver of an SUV who killed in a crash involving a dump truck in Camden County Thursday afternoon.

The deadly accident happened shortly after noon on Berlin Road at Morris Drive in Cherry Hill, New Jersey (see related story).

Authorities say the driver of the SUV, who is identified as 57-year-old Gail Walsh of Cinnaminson, died after a dump truck carrying sand somehow lost control and partially landed on top of her vehicle. The truck was traveling west on Berlin Road and police say when another vehicle pulled into its path at the light at Morris Drive, the truck swerved in an effort to avoid the car.

Authorities say the contents of the truck shifted, causing it to topple onto the Walsh's SUV which was traveling east on Berlin Road.

The driver of the dump truck, whose name has not been released, suffered minor injuries, according to police.

"He was very distraught," said Yvonne Dalton-Kay, a nurse from a nearby doctor's office who ran out to help after she heard the accident. "We spent a lot of time with him trying to calm him down."

The crash caused a fuel spill the hazmat crews had to remove. The road closure jammed traffic in the area.
The accident is under investigation.
