Spags Watch Over, Signs With Saints

By Lesley Van Arsdall

Even before he left the rams, it was rumored Steve Spagnuolo was coming to the Eagles to be the new defensive coordinator. Makes sense, he still has a home here, his wife is from here, and he says he loves it here.

Despite all the chatter, the Eagles never said weather or not they wanted him.

Then, for weeks we had the unofficial ‘Steve Spagnolo watch.’

Would he go to the Falcons? Nope, the speculation is over and on Thursday night it was announced that he’s going to the New Orleans Saints. (see related story)

Clearly, he was in no rush to get back here, where he served as the Eagles defensive assistant from 1999 to 2006.
So, in theory, it looks like Juan Castillo could be here a little while longer. An idea that is not too palatable for many Eagles fans.
