Bryn Mawr Soft Drink Company Offers Unique Flavors

By Ian Bush

BRYN MAWR, Pa. (CBS) -- For most soda drinkers, the choice is between Coke and Pepsi. But a soft drink company based in Bryn Mawr is hoping you'll give their flavors a sip.

"We want people to think a little bit about what they're drinking, and we know they'll enjoy it a little more when they think about how it tastes and what's in it," says Pete Howey, President of New Hope Premium Fountain, who likes his beverages to the microbrew beer craze.

He says their sodas are a tasty alternative to what you normally see, "with flavors that the bigger guys might not be able to put out there, because it would be really difficult to do with the size of their operations."

And that includes flavors like Watermelon Cream and Black Cherry cola.

"We sweeten our beverage with real sugar; we don't have any phosphoric acid, no caffeine."

They also offer carbonated juices, targeted at schools.

There's a "clementine, a tart apple, orange mango, pear…" Howey says.

New Hope Premium is only in fountain form, and for now, in just a few locations like Peace A Pizzas restaurants, which Howey also co-owns. But if you like it a lot, they offer growlers to carry home.
