Philadelphia (CBS) – Thousands of lacrosse players and enthusiasts are flocking to Philadelphia this weekend.
The 10th annual U.S. Lacrosse national convention is being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center this weekend.
Paul Krome, associate director for public relations and marketing with U.S. Lacrosse says over 5,000 people are expected to attend.
“It is the largest professional development and educational and networking opportunity for lacrosse coaches, players, officials, administrators and volunteers.”
Why did they set up shop here in Philadelphia?
“I don’t like to use the word hotbed but there’s a very populous lacrosse community both in New York; New York state, Long Island and in Maryland. We found Philadelphia not only to be a great host but also centrally located for those two.”
Krome says over 200 speakers and lacrosse workshops are scheduled throughout the weekend.
