NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- Police in Delaware are searching for a suspect in the attempted luring of a teenage girl Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. on Wyoming in the vicinity of Innovation Way in Newark.

According to police, a 15-year-old girl told them she was walking down the street when she was approached by a male in an older black minivan with tinted rear windows and a dent on the rear passenger side door.

The male asked her if she needed a ride and she refused. The suspect then drove away but returned moments later and again asked her if she needed a ride.

The teen then ran away and the van was last seen driving eastbound towards Marrows Road.

The driver is described as a black male, approximately 30-years-old with a stocky build and short hair. He was wearing a black shirt with white writing.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Nicholas Sansone at 302-366-7110 ext. 135 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
