If White House Calls Would Nutter Say Yes?

By Mike Dunn

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Mayor Nutter was barely one hour into his second term when he found himself fielding reporter's questions about whether he would head to Washington if Barack Obama were re-elected.

"There is zero truth to any rumor like that," he responded.

Mayor Nutter minced no words as he tried to quash growing speculation that he could hear the White House calling if Obama were to win a second term.

"I was just sworn in as mayor of Philadelphia. I know all of you love that kind of speculation. This is my job, this is all I'm focused on. And I guess we're in 2012 now, so my focus now as a Democrat is making sure President Obama gets re-elected. But I'm going to stay here and do my job," Nutter said.

Speculation that the mayor could end his term early to head to Washington comes despite the fact that the mayor four years ago supported Hillary Clinton for President.
