Man Critical Condition After Delaware County Hit-Run, Suspect Arrested

By Jericka Duncan

FOLCROFT, Pa. (CBS) - An arrest has been made in connection to a hit-and-run accident in Delaware County that left a husband and father of two seriously injured on Sunday morning.

The accident happened at about 2 a.m. on New Year's in the 700 block of Taylor Drive in Folcroft. The victim, John McManus, and his wife Misty had just finished bringing in the New Year's and were dropping a friend home. Misty says John got out of the car to help a friend when a vehicle seemingly came out of nowhere and struck him.

"My girlfriend was having a problem getting the back of the van open and so my husband got out of the car and he went to open up the door. As he got the door all the way open, that's when we heard a big, loud bang," said Misty.

McManus was thrown several feet away and suffered critical injuries including a collapsed lung and facial fractures, his wife said.

Witnesses did not get a glimpse of the driver but say the first three letters of the Pennsylvania tag read "AES". Authorities say the suspect left behind a driver's side side-view mirror which they have linked to a light-colored 2006/2007 Ford 500, pictured on the right.

Eyewitness News confirmed with Folcroft Police that a suspect has been arrested and will be arraigned Tuesday morning.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
