Glassboro, NJ Teen Asks Justin Bieber To Prom

By Anne-Marie Green

GLASSBORO, NJ (CBS) -- Leon Purvis is 16 and a junior at Glassboro High School, and he's a huge Justin Bieber fan.

He knows he shares this admiration with a lot of 12-year-old girls, but he's not ashamed. It's a running joke with his friends, but when one of his buddies suggested he invite the Biebs to his senior prom, things got really serious.

Leon shot a YouTube video, and it now has more than 100,000 views. There is a committee and t-shirts, and he won the school administration over with a Power-Point presentation.

"He has always stood out. It doesn't matter much to him what people think," his school adviser says.

Purvis has also amassed a small army of tweeters. Yesterday, they managed to get the hash-tagged phrase "Guy Invites Bieber to the Prom" into the top 25 trending topics on Twitter.

"I've sent out 700 tweets," says Ashley Purvis, Leon's sister.

She also says she's now suffering from hand fatigue, but hey--no pain, no gain!

The gossip site Perez Hilton has taken notice, and Ryan Seacrest mentioned Leon on his radio show…and Seacrest also said he would go if he was Justin.

Leon insists there are no romantic intentions; he actually has a girl in mind that he also plans to ask to the prom, but Justin Bieber could be his wing man.

"Justin Bieber has accomplished a lot of things in his young life, and he hasn't had a chance to have a normal teenage life, so why not give him the chance?" Leon says.

The prom isn't until June 2012, so Beiber has a bit of time to RSVP.
