NEWARK, Del. (AP) —New Castle County police say two men were shot at a Newark area apartment complex and one of the men has since died at a hospital where both victims were taken.

Police said in a statement Monday evening that the two victims had received gunshot wounds to the upper body in the shooting earlier in the day at the Harbor Club Apartment complex. Authorities say both men were taken to Christiana Hospital where one of the victims died and the other was in serious condition.

Paramedics say the shooting occurred around 3:45 p.m. at the Harbor Club Apartments on Cheswold Boulevard.

Police said they tried to track a suspect using a canine team but were not successful. Authorities did not immediately identify the victims or elaborate on what happened.
