Man Killed In Christmas Morning Fire In Glassboro

Philadelphia (CBS) – A man living in a Glassboro, New Jersey motel dies in a Christmas morning fire.

Occupants of the Royal Inn on South Delsea Drive in Glassboro smelled smoke from the man's room at 8:10 a.m. and alerted management, who called police and evacuated the building.

The Glassboro Fire Department put out the fire and found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, an intermittent resident of the motel, has been identified, but his name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

An autopsy by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled for Monday.

Damage to the building was confined to one room and other rooms have been reoccupied.

An investigation into the cause of the fire by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, the county Fire Marshal's Office and the Glassboro fire investigation unit is continuing.
