PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – With Christmas on Sunday this year, businesses are giving workers other days off. But which day varies.

Since every business has to find its own way on holiday scheduling, there’s no one answer. The city is taking Monday as its Christmas holiday, which is especially important if your trash pickup would normally be that day. It’ll be Tuesday instead, and collection all week will be one day late.

Judge Technical Staffing most firms do the same thing, close the day after the Sunday holidays, although a few manufacturing plants just shut for the entire week. Another option this year would be Friday and Monday but that can be difficult in a payroll sense, so companies prefer to keep the holidays in the same week.

What may happen tomorrow however is, shall we say, a relaxed attitude toward quitting time so that people can escape and begin their holiday trek with a splash of daylight ahead.
