SRC Could Vote Today To Make Meetings More Parent-Friendly

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia parents whose schedules don't allow them to attend School Reform Commission meetings may get some welcome news today.

The School Reform Commission meets today at 2 p.m., but it'll be the last afternoon meeting for a while. The panel today votes to amend its public meeting schedule, to move the meeting times to 5:30 and 6 in the evening.

SRC chair Pedro Ramos says it's an effort to make the meetings more convenient. "The primary reason for changing the times of the SRC meetings is to enable more people to come after work."

Strategy meetings are scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:00, with the voting meetings on Thursdays at 5:30. The changes would take effect next month.

Meetings are at school headquarters at 440 N. Broad. Ramos says there are no plans right now to hold meetings on location at neighborhood schools.
