‘Joy Of Sharing’ Finale Raises Over $112,000 For Salvation Army And Families In Need

Philadelphia, December 19, 2011 – CBS 3 and The CW Philly 57 teamed up with its CBS RADIO sister stations to wrap up the 23rd annual Joy of Sharing toy campaign today with a day-long toy collection and on-air fundraising effort that raised $112,030 for The Salvation Army to help families in need this holiday season.

Anchors Susan Barnett, Pat Ciarrocchi, Erika von Tiehl, Sports Director Beasley Reece, Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan and Meteorologist Kathy Orr spearheaded the fundraising effort from 3 to 8 p.m. on-air. Local celebrities including 98.1 WOGL’s Breakfast Club team of Ross Brittain, Valerie Knight and Frank Lewis and Talk Radio 1210 WPHT’s Chris Stigall joined volunteers to staff the phone bank and take donations.

Proceeds from the fundraiser, sponsored by Herr’s, will enable The Salvation Army to not only provide new toys and food to needy families during the holidays, but to support such programs as emergency shelters, child development programs, substance abuse programs and transitional housing among other services. Major corporate contributors included Herr’s, UnitedHealthcare and PECO.

CBS 3 and The CW Philly acknowledge the support of their partners in this campaign: Herr’s, Ashley Furniture Home Store, Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, The Blue Cross River Rink at Penn’s Landing and The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.

CBS 3 and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation. KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, SportsRadio 94 WIP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and Talk Radio 1210 WPHT are CBS RADIO stations.
