AAA Estimates 1 Million People From The Region Will Travel This Holiday Season

Philadelphia (CBS) – If you’re hitting the road this holiday, you won’t be alone.

AAA Mid Atlantic estimates one million people from the Philadelphia area will travel sometime between December 23rd and January 2nd.

“We’re projecting just a small increase over last year- one-point-two percent. However considering that the economic recovery is still slow, gas prices are still high. It’s still a pretty good number.”

Jenny Robinson, a spokeswoman with AAA Mid Atlantic, says gas prices are expected to hold steady around $3.33 per gallon. That’s 22 cents more than a year ago.

More than 90 percent of holiday travelers will be driving and AAA has apps available for Iphone and Android that can help in planning your trip.
