TOWSON, Md. (AP) – Sam Mills scored 18 points as La Salle University defeated Towson, 89-51, on Wednesday night, for the Explorers’ fourth straight win.
La Salle bolted to a 13-0 lead and carried a 48-28 advantage into halftime. The Explorers (6-3) led by at least 21 points the rest of the game.
Earl Pettis and Ramon Galloway each added 15 points, Tyreek Duren had 12, and Jerrell Wright had 11 for La Salle, which shot 53.2 percent (33 of 62) from the field.
The Explorers went on a 23-8 run over the final 12:49 to end the game with its biggest lead. Towson, which lost its 27th game in a row, was held to 34.5 percent shooting (19 of 55), including only 10 of 35 in the second half.
Marcus Damas and Robert Nwankwo each scored 12 points for Towson (0-8), which made only 3 of 11 shots from three-point range.
