'Like', OMG, It's The Top Facebook Status Updates Of 2011

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Facebook is releasing the top trends of 2011. And with 800-million users around the world regularly updating their status, or sharing media, it's an interesting look back on the year that was.

Facebook calls it "Memology 2011" (that's "meme"-ology), comparing this year's status updates to last year's, and then putting together top ten lists.

The top global topic overall this year on Facebook was the killing of Osama bin Laden.

As for the fastest growing fan pages, actress Megan Fox topped that list despite admitting, "I don't have Facebook."

The top athletes of the year are dominated by soccer players. Barcelona FC's #10 Lionel Messi was number one on Facebook's list. The only US athletes on that list: Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant (Bryant's Lakers are the only U.S. sports team in the top 10.)

And the biggest movie page of the year: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, which beat out The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1.
