What's Cooking on 1060: Gemelli On Main, Davio's, Shane's Candies

Gemelli on Main, in Manayunk, is Clark Gilbert's second restaurant of the same name, the first being in Narberth.
"It's Italian for twins," Gilbert tells KYW Newsradio. "The impetus behind the name is that I have twin children."
It's also the name of a type of pasta.
"It looks like two braided pieces of pasta, but it has nice texture to it and the braiding allows more sauce to stick to it," Gilbert (top photo) says.

From one Italian restaurant to another... Davio's hosts a gingerbread house workshop on Saturday.
"It's like a fresh canvas for the kids to create their dream world," says chef Tom Heck (right).
Heck says that last year some families took their gingerbread decorating very seriously.
"It was almost like a competition between some of the dads," he recalls. "And then the kids are fussing with the candy and they're putting it on and some of the dads are getting a little edgy because they want it a certain way and they're trying to be like engineers or something."
Speaking of candy, Monday marks the grand reopening of Shane's candy shop. It's owned by the Berley brothers, the same team who own the nearby Franklin Fountain.
Eric Berley says they're expanding their business from ice cream to other sweets:
"It's a little Willy Wonka factory here at Shane Confectionary, 110 Market Street. We have workers happily boxing chocolates for the holiday season."
