Sentencing Day For Lawyer Convicted In Russian Child-Sex Case

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A federal judge is expected to hand down the sentence, today, in the case of a high-powered international lawyer from Philadelphia, convicted of traveling to have sex with a minor.

The victim testified at a sentencing hearing, yesterday, that he still bears the scars of the abuse.

Judge Juan Sanchez heard from the victim and defendant Ken Schneider at the sentencing hearing yesterday. The victim describing almost-debilitating post traumatic stress.

"I am still battling lots of issues."

Schneider talked about his own problems in prison. Defense attorney Sam Stretton argued for leniency, because Schneider's skills could be put to use for society.

"He was an excellent lawyer, handled mergers and acquisitions, he was head of international bar for a number of year, involved in charitable activities."

Prosecutor Michelle Kelly countered. "He was conducting the crime at the same time he was being such a skillful lawyer and running his charitable foundation."

Kelly argued Schneider shows no remorse for what she called a heinous crime.
