PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Earl Pettis led four La Salle players in double figures with 15 points, and the Explorers defeated Northeastern, 68-51, on Wednesday night (see preview story).
After shooting 36 percent in the first half (9 of 25), La Salle (4-3) made 63 percent from the field in the second half (17 of 27). The Explorers were seven of eight from three-point range after halftime, a strong contrast to the 2-for-12 performance from behind the arc in the first half.
La Salle went on a 12-0 run early in the second half, capped by consecutive three-pointers by Sam Mills, Ramon Galloway and Earl Pettis for a 38-26 lead with just less than 15 minutes to play.
Galloway finished with 14 points, Tyreek Duren had 13, and Jerrell Wright added 11 for the Explorers.
Jonathan Lee had 11 points and Kashief Edwards 10 for the Huskies (3-2).
