MILLVILLE, NJ (CBS) – A shooting in Millville early Thursday morning left one man in serious condition.

Around 2 a.m., Millville police responded to the scene at 503 E. Mulberry Street, where they found the victim inside the residence and suffering from gunshot wounds to his left abdomen.

It’s believed that at the time of the incident, there were at least three other occupants inside the house in addition to the victim. An unknown assailant tried to enter the house, and was confronted by the victim. A struggle ensued and the victim shot. The assailant then fled the area on foot.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Lee Williams, was airlifted to Atlantic City Medical Center, where he remains in serious condition.

Police recovered a revolver near the scene of the crime, and they continue to investigate the incident.
