Drug Bust Gone Bad, Officer Struck By Car, Discharges Weapon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are investigating an officer involved shooting in which an officer was also struck by a car.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of 63rd Street and Oxford Avenue in the city's Overbrook section.

According to police, officers conducting an undercover investigation were attempting to make an arrest of two suspects.

One suspect, driving a Black Nissan, struck the police officer. The officer discharged his weapon at the car, but the suspect was able to get away.

The other suspect was taken into police custody.

The injured officer was taken to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania with a non-life threatening leg injury.

Police are still searching for the suspect in the vehicle. He is believed to be an older white man.
