The Thanksgiving Food Shopping Rush Has Begun

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Thanksgiving Day is just a few days away and the rush to the grocery stores has already begun.

"I work all week, so I know on the weekends it's going to be hectic, but you have to be patient," says Beverly Pintarelli.

The Sunday before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year for food shopping. That's why Beverly says she went to the Shop Rite on Snyder Ave with a plan.

"My strategy for shopping today was to come with my husband, so we are splitting up. We have our coupons."

Beverly's shopping cart is filled to the brim with enough turkey day deliciousness to feed 15 people.

"We make the turkey, stuffing, lasagna because we are Italian, a ham and escarole soup with meatballs."

But not everyone shops in advance of the holiday. Some folks love the excitement of shopping during the last minute rush.

Reporter: "When are you going to start Thanksgiving shopping?"

Ilena: "Tuesday, Wednesday?"

Reporter: "You're not nervous about the rush?"

Ilena: "Nope."

"I'll be back Tuesday to do damage," says one shopper.

Reporter: "Damage, what does that mean?"

"I'm going to buy everything," she says.
