ST. THOMAS, US Virgin Islands (AP) -- Frantz Massenat scored 23 points and Samme Givens added 12 points and seven rebounds to lead Drexel University past Winthrop University, 68-45, in the seventh-place game of the Paradise Jam.
Massenat was 6 of 8 from behind the arc for Drexel (2-2). The Dragons, who had lost to Norfolk State and Virginia in its first two games of the tournament, shot 48 percent from the field, including 11 for 21 from three-point range.
Drexel opened the game strongly, with Massenat making a three-pointer, Givens scoring on a hook shot, and Damion Lee hitting a three to help the team to a 14-1 lead.
The Dragons led by as many as 17 in the first half and took a 31-22 lead into the break.
Andre Jones led Winthrop (0-5) with 18 points.
