Woman Reports Seeing Bobcat Prowling In Her Delco Neighborhood

FOLCROFT, Pa. (CBS) -- Here we go again, with another reported bobcat sighting in the region.

No one was hurt, and no official confirmation of the sighting, but no surprise in the eyes of a local wildlife expert.

Monday night, a woman called police in Folcroft about a bobcat running through the neighborhood. The cops checked it out and found nothing.

These reports have come and gone over the years and, yes, they've been proven true on occasion.

The fact is, bobcats are supposed to be in this area, according to Gary Stolz, manager at the nearby Heinz Wildlife Refuge.

"They are historically found throughout the eastern roughly-two-thirds of the state of Pennsylvania," he tells KYW Newsradio. "They are definitely in the Poconos, not too far from here."

No one has seen a bobcat in the wildlife preserve, although by sheer coincidence there are two nighttime volunteer checks for new animals set for next week.

If they -- or you -- see a bobcat, no big deal. They're about the size of a large dog and, experts say, want nothing to do with humans.
