PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police in Northeast Philadelphia are asking women to be on alert after two women were kidnapped and robbed at knifepoint.
It happened at a popular local mall in Northeast Philadelphia.
Sources say two women in their late 60s were caught off-guard when they walked out of the Walmart in Franklin Mills. Sources say a man forced the women into their car and at knifepoint, ordered them to drive to three ATMs in the area Tuesday night around 8 p.m.
Sources tell Eyewitness News, for some reason, the suspect failed to get any cash at the first two ATMs. That’s when the man had the women drive to a Wells Fargo on Street Road in Bensalem where both women did get cash for him.
Sources say the women were then ordered to return to Walmart where the man ran away with the cash and their purses.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s who at the time wore dark clothing with sunglasses and a baseball cap.
Investigators are now reviewing surveillance video from the area to see what, if anything, was caught on tape.
