5 Firefighters Hospitalized After Accident In Lumberton

LUMBERTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Several firefighters were taken to the hospital after a fire truck flipped while trying to avoid another vehicle in Lumberton, New Jersey.

According to police, a Fire pumper truck from the Lumberton Township Fire Department was involved in a single vehicle accident on Smithville Road, south of Route 38.

All five of the firefighters were able to free themselves and were transported to Virtua Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash occurred when the truck was returning from a call and swerved to avoid another vehicle in the road.

The accident is still under investigation by the Lumberton Township Traffic Unit.
