Phillies Hold Ball Girl Tryouts At Citizens Bank Park

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A group of 30 candidates were at the Phillies' ballpark in South Philadelphia today, hoping to make the cut as Phillies' ball girls.

The competition wasn't easy, but Alex Kissinger of Philadelphia says the candidates all supported each other through the process.

"We were just cheering everyone on," she tells KYW Newsradio.  "It was more of a fun tryout kind of thing and not anything serious.  Obviously, we all want to get it."

All of the participants have experience playing softball.  The tryouts involved everything from running and fielding to TV interviews.

In the end, players such as Emily Kordwitz of West Chester still have the dream of fielding for the Phillies.

"That'd be awesome," she says.  "That's pretty much why I would love to do this, and I hope it happens next year.  World Series all the way!"
