WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A teenager is in critical condition after being struck by a car while trying to cross a Wilmington road.

Delaware State Police say 14-year-old Christina O’Malia of Wilmington was struck shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday while trying to cross Limestone Road. Police say she was hit by a 2000 Honda Civic being driven by a 21-year-old man from Wilmington. The man was wearing a seatbelt and not injured.

It appears O’Malia was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk.

Officials are continuing to investigate the crash.
