PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man died Saturday night after rescue crews pulled him from the Schuylkill River in West Philadelphia, according to police.
Authorities were called out to the river near Walnut Street at about 6:30 p.m. following reports of a man under water. Police and a Marine unit pulled the unidentified male, believed to be in his forties, from the river and transported him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Authorities say the man was under water for about 10 minutes. He later died at the hospital.
There is no word on why the man was in the river.
