PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A man is dead and a firefighter is injured after an early morning house fire in Kensington.
The blaze was reported just after midnight in a home along the 1800 block of North Front Street. Firefighters had it under control 25 minutes later.
The victim, said to be in his 70s, was dead on arrival at a local hospital. The firefighter was burned on his legs. He was listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.
No cause has been determined yet. The fire marshal says the home did have a smoke detector but it was inoperative because the battery was not properly installed.
