City & Occupy Philadelphia Prepared For Bad Weather, Early Snow

Jericka Duncan reports...

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mother Nature seems to be serving up more tricks than treats when it comes to the weather this Halloween. The rain that was falling on Occupy Philadelphia demonstrators at City Hall is now mixing with freezing rain and snow.

"In our tent, we have many provisions necessary to weathering the storm," said Occupy Philadelphia demonstrator Nicholas Shankin. "We have portable heating systems and more than enough blankets to go around."

"Right now, it's October and the weather seems to be changing; the temperature has dropped," said Nick Martino with PennDOT. "It's a situation where if any precipitation may arise, we will be ready to mobilize at anytime."

City crews are prepared for the season's first snowfall, even though Philadelphia isn't expected to see heavy amounts of snow accumulation.

"It seems like it's not really going to come into our district or the Philadelphia region, but that could change," said Martino. "Something could slightly move it towards us."

And as people move from one haunted house to another this Halloween weekend, some are now more concerned about Mother Nature and the tricks she may have up her sleeve.
