BLOG: Free Lunch 'N' Learn Workshops

By Jim Donovan: Now you can begin to take control of your money and start planning for a brighter financial future — all during your lunch break!

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS) and the FinanciallyHers program are bringing back the popular Lunch 'N' Learn series for another round of workshops.

Starting November 1st, three workshops will be held:

– What Will Your Retirement Look Like?
Tuesday, 11/1
– Your Worth is Worth Protecting: Learn the Basics of Insurance
Tuesday, 11/8
– Estate Planning: What You Need to Know
Tuesday, 11/15

The workshops will be held at CCCS' main Philadelphia office at 1608 Walnut Street (10th floor) during the lunch hour from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. They are free to anyone who registers and light refreshments will be provided.

All three workshops are new topics and are being taught by two professional volunteer educators — Sharon Bonnem and Shauna Hopkins. Ms. Bonnem is a Certified Financial Planner and board member of the Philadelphia chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Ms. Hopkins is a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and an owner/agent at State Farm Insurance in West Philadelphia.

What Will Your Retirement Look Like? educates women on the available options that will allow them to retire comfortably, including IRAs, 401Ks and other investments. In an age where the future of social security is uncertain, this information couldn't come at a better time. Ms. Bonnem will be teaching this workshop.

The second workshop, Your Worth is Worth Protecting: Learn the Basics of Insurance looks at why it's so important to have insurance. Ms. Hopkins will be teaching this workshop.

Estate Planning: What You Need to Know discusses how to make sure your family is taken care of and the four documents you must have. Not everyone wants to talk about this topic, but you'll want to make sure that your final decisions don't become someone else's. Ms. Bonnem will be teaching this workshop.

Seating is limited, so you are highly encouraged to register in advance.
