Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car On I-95 In Port Richmond

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on Interstate 95 late Monday evening.

The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue exits in Port Richmond.

According to investigators, an unidentified passenger jumped from the left concrete barrier into the left lane of travel and was struck by the car.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

It was not immediately known why the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway in the first place.

The deadly accident remains under police investigation.
