BLOG: Reaction To New Sixers Ownership

By Tim Jimenez

It's not every day in Philadelphia that ownership of any of the four major sports teams changes hands. It happened this week when the Sixers were officially purchased by Wharton grad and billionaire Josh Harris and a group of investors, which includes someone you may have heard of named Will Smith.

The official changing of the guard comes at an awkward time with the NBA lockout currently in its fourth month. Any type of buzz or hope created by new ownership could fade away if more NBA games or even the entire season is lost. It would not be a good start for an organization that has struggled for nearly a decade to create a long-lasting buzz and put people in the seats.

There's a lot to talk about and this week my guest on Talkin' Hoops is Michael Levin with Sixers fan blog Libertyballers.com. Mike gives his reaction and the reaction of his readers on Josh Harris and company's Tuesday press conference. We also talk about Ed Stefanski's exit, the lower ticket prices and what he would tell the new owners, including a suggestion that another key Sixer should join Andre Iguodala on the trading block.
