Philadelphia Police Officer Arrested On Charges Of Theft

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Another Philadelphia police officer has been arrested, the second in just over a week, and once again the charges stem from theft.

This latest officer, Kevin Workman, 47, is arrested on charges of receiving stolen property and theft.

It was just last week when charges were filed against officer Charles Jacoby alleging he was going through prisoner's belongings and stealing credit and debit cards.

In that case, Commissioner Charles Ramsey said it is an embarrassment to the force, but he says allegations are taken seriously.

"We're going to everything we can to root them out. We're not going to stop. So, however embarrassing it is, (we) just have to bear with it, until we clean house," Ramsey said in the aftermath of Jacoby's arrest.

Workman is the 35th Philadelphia police officer arrested since 2009. He is a 21-year veteran of the police force, assigned to the 2nd District.

He is now suspended with intent to dismiss.
