Armed Suspects Sought In Attempted Robbery Of Elderly Jogger In Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware are searching for two armed suspects who attempted to rob an elderly man as he was jogging behind a middle school Monday evening.

The incident happened at about 8:20 p.m. on the running track behind George Reed Middle School on East Basin Road in New Castle.

According to investigators, the 75-year-old male was jogging on the track when he was approached from behind by two black males. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The suspects demanded property from the victim. The victim then ran away and the suspect fired several rounds at the victim.

The suspects then fled empty handed.

The victim fell to the ground while running and was injured. He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries.
