Police In Dover Searching For Suspect Connected To ATM Heist

DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Police in Dover are investigating a theft from an ATM that happened early Friday morning.

The robbery happened a little after 2 a.m. at the 1st National Bank of Wyoming in the 800 block of South Governors Avenue.

Authorities say the suspect first stole a 15-passenger rental van that was parked in the 1100 of South Governors Avenue and used that van, and possibly a connected chain, to rip off the front part of the ATM.

According to police, once the ATM was dismantled, the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was found abandoned in the same parking lot it was taken from earlier in the morning.

The suspect escaped undetected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111.
