DesignPhiladelphia Kicks Off Tonight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tonight, DesignPhiladelphia launches ten days of events related to all aspects of design.

Some of the 150 events involve what we traditionally associate with the term 'design': fashion shows, architecture lectures, a showcase of interiors. But director Hilary Jay says there is so much more, "There are exhibitions and product roll outs and trunk shows and book signings all over the city."

There will be pop-up shops, a citywide egg hunt, four-foot sidewalk chalk and a playhouse with live performances and videos in what is usually a vacant lot.

Jay says DesignPhiladelphia draws attention to, and benefits from, the city's creative resources.

"There are a lot of young, passionate people who want to express themselves in innovative way."
