Pre-K Now

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Research shows that high quality pre-kindergarten experiences have a lasting impact on a child in both school and life and economists have found that investing dollars in pre-K programs yields significant returns.

Pre-K Now is a campaign of the Pew Center on the States to advocate and collaborate promoting increased funding and quality for state programs and supporting research through The National Institute for Early Education Research.

The Center has just issued a report completing its 10-year commitment to the Pre-K Now campaign. Data revealed that investment by states in pre-K has more than doubled in the last decade. Yet more than 75% of our country's 4 year-olds and even more 3 year-olds have no access to state funded pre-K programs.

The report concludes that new federal legislation should no longer refer to K-12 but PreK-12 bridging the gap for educational reform.
