Wendell Pritchett Holds First SRC Meeting As Interim Chairman
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The new-look School Reform Commission met yesterday for the first time since last month's meltdown that saw two members resign.
"Good afternoon, everybody." Wendell Pritchett, as the newly-named interim chairman, gaveled the meeting into order.
"I have to say that I'm really honored and humbled by this position, also intimidated, but I look forward to working with all of you in this effort."
After reported back-room deals by previous chair Robert Archie, Pritchett pledges that this SRC will operate in a transparent manner.
"Obviously, I understand that the history of this organization creates other challenges that we've acknowledged."
He says part of that transparency will be answering questions from the press, something his predecessor rarely did. Governor Corbett yesterday said his nominee Pedro Ramos will become SRC chairman, once he's confirmed by the state senate.
