BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (CBS) – Delaware County SPCA officials took custody of several cats and dogs they say were neglected inside a Brookhaven home.
Authorities say the unidentified elderly couple who owned the six cats and dogs turned them over Thursday morning hoping the Delaware County SPCA would find other adoptive parents.
Officials say the home was in deplorable condition when they arrived. They found two of the dogs so severely matted that they were rushed to an outside groomer immediately.
According to officials, the couple will not face any charges since they are ill and willingly turned the animals over to the Delaware County SPCA.
After the animals are cleaned up, evaluated medically and behaviorally and receive all of their vaccinations, they will be available for adoption; dog adoptions are $40 off in the month of October.
