BLOG: Upcoming Shredder Events In DE & PA

By Jim Donovan: It seems like at least once a week I get an inquiry from a viewer about where they can shred personal documents for free. Well I have news about several shredding events that are coming up over the next few weeks that you may want to take advantage of.

First up, as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent identity theft, the Delaware Attorney General's office is sponsoring free community shred events at locations statewide. Each event will feature on-site document shredding, and staff from the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division will be available to provide information and answer questions about identity theft and consumer fraud. Consumers may bring up to three file-sized boxes of documents; emptied boxes will be immediately returned.

Those shredding events will take place at the following dates and locations:

Saturday, October 8
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Peebles parking lot at the Milford Plaza
650 N. DuPont Blvd., Milford DE

Saturday, October 22
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Boscov's parking lot at the Dover Mall
1365 N. DuPont Highway, Dover DE

** See below for another shredder event in PA on Oct 22.

Glasgow Park Community Day
Glasgow Park, Route 40 and South College Avenue, Glasgow DE

Saturday, November 12

Also, as part of National Protect Your Identity Week, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley is teaming up with Beneficial Bank and on Saturday October 22nd will host a FREE shredding event from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Beneficial Bank location at 1200 West Township Line Road in Havertown, PA.

If anyone happens to hear of any other FREE shredding events in the future, please let me know so that I can post them on Facebook and Twitter.
