Traveling Phils Fans: 'Meet Me In St. Louis'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This evening is game three of the NLDS, with the Phillies and Cardinals all tied up at one game each, and some die-hard fans are flying out to St. Louis this morning to cheer on their Phils. KYW Newsradio's Jim Melwert caught up with dedicated fans at Philadelphia International Airport.

You'd probably consider any Phillies fan lucky if he or she gets to go to today's game three in St. Louis, but Chris is heading out to sit in a luxury box right behind home-plate. "Cole Hamels is going to pitch a gem tonight, and they're going down tonight and then tomorrow it's going to be all over.  I'm excited. I think we're going all the way to the World Series, no doubt about it."

Now, Chris says he will be sitting in that box with a bunch of Cardinals fans, but he says he'll try his best to behave.

John Boganski scored his tickets through work. And they're some pretty good seats. "We're in Box 44 right behind home plate. I think they're going to win; I think we might even sweep out there, so we'll see."

Some fans say they're making the trek because they always wanted to visit St. Louis, and of course, they want to root on their Phils:

"It's a great baseball town. Philadelphia's a great baseball town too. Whose fans are better?  We outdraw the Cardinals."

"(I've) been to a couple playoff games, (this is the) first time I ever traveled for one, though.  I'm looking forward to it, (I've) never been to St. Louis before. Scottie Rolen called it baseball heaven one time, right?"

Fans say they aren't worried about Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia, who's been lights out at home and has been great against the Phillies in his career.

I asked one guy if it isn't a little nuts to be traveling to a divisional series match-up -- a first round match-up. His response: "Well maybe next week, I'll go to Milwaukee."

Can't argue with that.
