3-On Your Side: Finding Sales Made Easy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- We all know clipping coupons and buying sale items can help us save money. But many of us don't have time to do the legwork it takes to find the best deal. Well, there may be a solution. 3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan shows a simple way to search for the best prices to make it easier for you to stretch your dollar.

Emilie Goldenberg is in the market for a new television. She's got other items on her list too as she tries furnishing her new apartment.

But she's doing it on a budget. If it's not on sale she won't buy it.

"My friends know I'm really into bargain shopping," said Goldenberg.

But there's no sifting through circulars or email notices for Emilie.

She uses SaleLocator, a website that does all the legwork for her.

"You can search by specific product or brand name or pretty much anything that you are specifically looking for and that will show you what stores the product is on sale at," said Goldenberg.

Say you are at home and you know you need bath towels. Plug in your zip code, then type bath towels and you'll see they are on sale at Target, Kohls and JC Penny.

If you are already out and on the go, download the mobile app and SaleLocator will use your phone's gps to point you to the best deals in the area.

CEO Mike Falkson says savings can vary depending on what you're looking for.

"You may save a couple of pennies on Pepsi at the grocery store. But a couple of hundred dollars on consumer electronics," said Falkson.

"It's definitely saved me money. Little things, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond. Places that have the same products that I normally would you know, run to this store and back to that store. $20, $30 bucks here and there. It adds up," said Goldenberg.

At a time when being careful with a dollar means more than ever.

And this site doesn't just feature housewares, groceries and electronics. You can compare sale prices on all sorts of items anything from furniture to automotive supplies.
