Philadelphia Police Discover Missing Woman's Body In Schuylkill River

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police have confirmed that the body of a woman pulled out of the Schuylkill River Monday afternoon is the woman who went missing last Thursday after her car drove into the river. Authorities say the body was discovered near Hunting Park and Kelly Drive.

This is not far from where a witnesses say a woman drove her car off of Roosevelt expressway onto Kelly Drive, hit a stone retaining wall and plunged into the River on Thursday. (see related story).

Eyewitnesses say the vehicle became submerged in the murky water and a few seconds later, a black woman in her mid-forties was seen yelling for help and then disappeared.

Authorities pulled a 2008 grey Mercury Grand Marquis out of the river Thursday night, but could not find the woman.

At this point, police have not released the woman's identity.
