'Dolphin Tale' Flips To Top Of Box Office
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In its second weekend of release, the family drama, Dolphin Tale, swam away with the box-office crown, earning an estimated $14-million and leaping into first place.
Second place went to the Brad Pitt baseball drama, Moneyball, which took in over $12-million.
The Lion King 3-D took third with a total of $11-million.
None of the weekend's four new releases placed higher than fourth, but each cracked the top ten.
The cancer comedy, 50/50, was fourth with $9-million, just ahead of the fifth-place police drama, Courageous. Dream House, the horror thriller, earned $8-million, good for the sixth spot. And
the Anna Faris comedy, What's Your Number?, was eighth with $6-million.
But it was holdovers dominating the new attractions at the nation's multiplexes over the weekend.
